On October 28, 2015, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with President Sauli Niinistö of Finland to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.

Xi Jinping expressed in the congratulatory message that Finland was one of the first Western countries that established diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 65 years ago, both countries have been sincere friends with mutual assistance and mutual trust, as well as reliable partners featuring equality, mutual benefits, and win-win cooperation. At present, China and Finland are actively building and promoting a new type of future-oriented cooperative partnership. The Chinese side is willing to, together with the Finnish side, seize the opportunity, join hands and move forward to push for the constant and in-depth development of bilateral cooperation and build the future of bilateral relations.

President Sauli Niinistö noted in the congratulatory message that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Finland and China, areas of bilateral cooperation have been expanding. Currently, China is the largest trade partner of Finland in Asia. People-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries are growing closer, and frequent high-level visits have laid a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation. The Finnish side stays confident that the new type of Finland-China future-oriented cooperative partnership will open a new window of opportunity to further enhance the fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
