Q: The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China released an annual report on European business in China this morning, calling for reciprocity and openness to foreign investment. Do you have any comment on that?
A: Facts and figures are the most revealing about the foreign investment environment in China. As far as I know, the first seven months of this year have witnessed a year-on-year increase of 9.7% for foreign-invested companies in China, and 31.3% growth for the actual amount of foreign investment in China by 28 EU countries. No company or businessman will make a rash investment decision without the prospect of gaining returns or profits. These figures also demonstrate that China is still the ideal destination of investment for all countries including the EU.
I would like to emphasize that China's policy of utilizing foreign investment will not change. We will continue to create a favorable environment for foreign investors, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of foreign-invested companies. We would love to let every country have a share of China's economic growth dividend as we always do.
