Address at the Reception in Honor of EU Officials China Study Visits
January 20, 2017
Dear Participants of the EU Officials Study Visits,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good afternoon. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the participants of EU Officials China Study Visits to today’s reception at the Brussels Chinese Culture Centre organized by the Chinese Mission to the EU.
Human resource development is a key pillar of our bilateral relationship with the EU. Initiated at the first China-EU High-Level People-to-People Dialogue in 2012, this special program—EU Officials China Study Visits was designed to enable our EU colleagues to better understand China and meet the needs of promoting China-EU partnership and cooperation.
Thus far, about 118 EU officials attended the program respectively over the past four years. I am happy to learn that the program has proven its significance and all the participants have found their visits to China interesting, informative, beneficial and rewarding.
On behalf the Chinese Mission to the EU and in my own name, I would like to congratulate all of you for your successful participation of this program, and to express our appreciation to the sponsors, organizers and lecturers for their dedication and hard work.
I am confident that equipped with a better appreciation of both China and the EU, all of you will make valuable contributions to broadening and deepening mutual trust and confidence as well as mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the EU.
Needless to say, this study program is not static and will continually evolve to meet new development needs. In this context, we welcome feedback from our EU friends. We are all ears.
Since the traditional Chinese New Year is around the corner, let me also take this opportunity to wish all of you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year, the Year of the Rooster.
