Ambassador Zhang Ming Meets with Vice President Dimitrios Papadimoulis of the European Parliament

On 31 January 2018, Ambassador Zhang Ming met with Vice President Dimitrios Papadimoulis of the European Parliament. The two sides exchanged views on China-EU relations, the situation in Europe and other regions, China-EU inter-parliamentary exchanges, in addition to other topics of mutual interest.

Ambassador Zhang briefed Vice President Papadimoulis on the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and stressed its importance to global peace and common development. Ambassador Zhang emphasized that China will continue to deepen reform and expand opening-up, which will generate immense possibilities to China-EU cooperation in wide areas. Ambassador Zhang said that China stands ready to enhance exchanges and communication with the European Parliament, build trust and dispel misperceptions through cooperation, and take the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership forward.

Vice President Papadimoulis expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality accorded to him last December during his visit to China. He commended the great achievements that China has made in reform and opening-up and underlined the significance of the EU-China comprehensive strategic partnership. Vice President Papadimoulis expressed his readiness to exert positive influence in the European Parliament to help enhance mutual understanding and trust between the EU and China, and contribute to the sound growth of EU-China relations in the long run.
