Ambassador Zhang Ming Meets with Commission Stylianides for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management

On 28 March 2018, Ambassador Zhang Ming met with Mr. Christos Stylianides, Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management.

Ambassador Zhang briefed on the annual sessions of China’s National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. Ambassador Zhang emphasized that China attaches great importance to the EU, and will be a trustworthy and reliable partner of Europe in the long run. China and the EU have good cooperation in the area of humanitarian aid and crisis management, and there is a lot more to do. China stands ready to strengthen communication and mutual learning with the EU in such areas as disaster relief, institutional and capacity building for emergency management, and joint participation in global humanitarian relief operations. This will deliver benefits to people of both sides and of the whole world.

Commissioner Stylianides said that the EU highly values its comprehensive strategic partnership with China and views China as a reliable partner. The EU commends China’s important role in international humanitarian actions and governance, and its strong commitment to multilateralism. The EU and China have common approach and common ground with regard to humanitarian aid and crisis management, and have carried out productive cooperation. The EU hopes to keep working with China to bring the cooperation in this regard and the overall EU-China relations to a new level.
