Ambassador Zhang Ming: China and the EU are working hard to translate the Summit joint statement into action
2019/05/28

On May 20, 2019, Ambassador Zhang Ming, Head of the Chinese Mission to the EU, gave an interview to Bloomberg in Brussels.

When asked to give an update on the implementation of the 21st China-EU Summit outcomes, Ambassador Zhang Ming said that both China and the EU are eager to bring cooperation forward. It is not just the EU’s wish. Whether progress can be achieved depends not on the extent to which China would like to concede, but on the extent to which China and the EU can work together for win-win outcomes and finally make a breakthrough. In view of that, Ambassador Zhang is confident that China and the EU can work together to implement the outcomes of the Summit. Over the past 40 days or more since the Summit, the two sides have not only signed two civil aviation agreements, but also held a new round of dialogue on intellectual property rights. The two sides have had fresh talks about achieving decisive progress in BIT talks this year and striving to make a breakthrough next year.

In other words, both sides are working hard to translate the joint statement into action, and both sides want to counter weigh global uncertainties with the stability of their cooperation.
