BEIJING, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- China welcomed the European Commission's (EC) pledge to provide up to 57 million Euros to a joint near-zero emissions coal (NZEC) project, according to a joint statement issued by China and the European Union (EU) Monday.

    The statement said China also welcomed the Conclusions of the EU Environment Council of Oct. 21, regarding the follow-up China-EU NZEC project.

    NANJING, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao delivered a speech at the closing ceremony of the fifth China-European Union (EU) Business Summit here Monday afternoon.

    European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, whose country holds the EU's rotating presidency, also attended the closing ceremony.

    The trio included Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, EU Commissioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Angel Lossada Torres-Quebedo.

    NANJING, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The fifth China-EU Business Summit will be held Monday in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.

Jiangsu's GDP grossed 2.39 trillion yuan (350 billion U.S. dollars) in the first three quarters of 2009, up 11.7 percent year-on-year. The production value of green industries, especially high-tech industries, grew by 60 percent.
