The International Community Extends Condolence to the Chinese Government on the Earthquake Disaster in Sichuan (XIV)

A number of foreign governments and leaders extended sincere condolence on the massive earthquake hitting Wenchuan county of Sichuan province by sending telegraphs to President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao or through other ways and expressed support for the disaster relief efforts of the Chinese government and people.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev expressed deep grief over the earthquake disaster in Sichuan, sincere condolence to the families of the victims and the disaster-hit people and said that Kazakhstan is ready to provide China with assistance.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev extended sincere condolence to the families of the victims and the entire Chinese people and wish that the injured recover as soon as possible.

President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili expressed deep grief over the victims, sincere condolence to the injured and wish that the Chinese government and people will overcome the difficulties at the earliest date possible.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko extended deep sympathy over the earthquake disaster in Sichuan and grief over the victims and expressed confidence that the Chinese people are able to overcome the difficulties and resume normal life. The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice expressed sincere sympathy to the disaster-hit people and confidence of the firm determination of the Chinese people to overcome the difficulties. The US is ready to provide any necessary assistance within its own capacity.

Belgian Foreign Minister Karel De Gucht extended deep grief over the earthquake disaster in Sichuan and expressed readiness of providing China with assistance.
