European Commission President Barroso's visit to China

On Apr. 29, 2010, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao called for more dialogue and cooperation between China and the European Union while meeting with President Barroso. "China and the EU drew up a blueprint for future development of the bilateral relationship after the 12th China-EU summit last year. On Apr. 30, 2010, China and the EU inaugurated a new cooperative project on clean energy, in a further effort to jointly tackle energy efficiency and climate change. President Barroso and Zhang Guobao, head of China's National Energy Administration, witnessed the inauguration of the Europe-China Clean Energy Center based in Tsinghua University. The center will act as a platform to provide support for both Chinese and European energy sector key players, and its objective is to promote increased use of clean energy. "The launching of the center, another flagship of our cooperation, is a major step in our common efforts to shape a more sustainable, environmental friendly and efficient energy sector," said Barroso. On May 01, 2010 in Shanghai, Chinese President Hu Jintao said during the meeting with President Barroso that China-EU relations in the 21 century should feature mutual respect, mutual trust, equal treatment, reciprocal and common development. After years of planning and preparations, China finally opened the Shanghai World Expo park on May 01, 2010. President Barroso unveils EU pavilion at Shanghai World Expo during his visit to China. At the Shanghai World Expo, the EU Pavilion has an ambitious goal to illustrate the 27 member states as a whole as well to depict the changing environment of Europe. Adhering to the Expo's core theme, "Better city, better life", the EU Pavilion also conveys the message of quality life it has achieved in its cities.

Premier Wen calls for deepening China-France mutual trust: On Apr. 30, 2010, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao told visiting French President Nicolas Sarkozy he hoped the two nations deepen mutual understanding and trust.
