Briefing on Organ Transplantation in China by Spokesperson of the Chinese Mission to the EU

        In China, organ transplantations are conducted in strict accordance with the Guiding Principles on Human Organ Transplantation adopted by WHO in 1991 and China's domestic regulations, in particular the Regulations on Human Organ Transplantation effective since May 1st 2007, which provides that organs shall be donated only on a voluntary and gratis basis and shall not be subject to any transactions. Medical organizations can only transplant organs after obtaining the written approval of the donors. The process is fully transparent and rule-based.
